I"m wondering how long people use wax for. I started using it half way through day 2 (I'm on day 3) and now have it on every bracket haha!
How long do people end up using wax for? I can see it being a pain in the butt. I'm 48, and could have these on for up to 30 months. I have ceramic brackets on the top only at this point

You use it to release chafing in the moth. Your inside mouth quickly hardens up. You won't be using it for 30 months. Why have you got it on every bracket?

I've had my braces a grand total of 10 days and had stopped using the wax by yesterday - so hang in there, it does get better! If you can handle it, it might be good to have periods of time where you don't use the wax, so that your mouth can build up a tolerance (i.e. hard skin) to it.

Interesting that you're experiencing irritation with the ceramic, I've got ceramic on my top six and steel everywhere else and it was only the steel that was giving me grief. I guess it depends on where they're positioned and how the wires are sitting etc.

My first 2 week in braces, I went through almost a case of wax a day. I've probably used 1 case since those first two weeks (I'm 7 months in).

I used it for the first two months, mainly where the posts on my brackets would carve out little ruts into the inside of my lip. Those took forever to heal, and eventually even the wax didn't help any more because the cuts got too big. I got so frustrated at the wax that I just started shoving pieces of cotton ball between my brackets and the inside of my cheek. That actually worked surprisingly well, and it's now my go-to move if I get a sore spot.

Blue TAC is also great

I used it a few times I think in the first week. In my experience, the irritation usually only lasts a day or two and putting wax on only delays it so I stopped using it completely.

I started using wax on day 2 and used it until the end of the first week. I haven't needed it since (about 6 weeks and one adjustment so far). Others have told me we may need to place some wax occasionally after an adjustment.

Me and my wax didn't get along well... It turned out pointless as it would fall off easilly and I was still in pain. I healed much faster after I decided to not put wax on. Did it hurt? A lot. But it was worth it.

i still use it. Bottom brackets rub from time to time.

The first week I used it everyday, and welcomed the relief it provided. Going into week three and I've only had to use it for 2 days.

Got my braces on Monday afternoon so i am on full day 2 and have only used wax at night to sleep. So far so good.

I'm on my fifth day and up until last night I haven't had to use it. However, I think the very back bracket where the wire goes through, it might be too long because it's just irritating the heck out of me. So I put a teeny dab on the end and that felt instantly amazing! Lol

I'm 11 months in and still use it from time to time when I have a random wire poking out or the brackets move and rub the inside of my cheek
