First day of braces. Advice

#1 Post by Grapefruit47 »

I just got my top brackets bonded today and ive noticed a lot of excess glue on my teeth. Is this normal? I feel like the assistants at the office are being really lazy but i dont know if i should say anything. The actual orthodontist checks their work and he didnt comment on it so im not sure if its normal. I was in there for almost 3 hrs just to get the top brackets...not looking forward to spending more time there.

Just my experience: my brackets are very nicely bonded, with very little extra cement/bonding agent showing. I did pop two lower brackets off within two hours of getting them put on (2.5 hours in the chair). Had to go back to the office and make them fix the two that popped off - bilaterally, lower first pre-molars. The techs said the brackets simply didn't bond correctly. Fixed them in five minutes, and I have had no other issues since.

My friend's kid told me he sometimes pops them off while he's still in the office! Um, no? LOL~ Hope you have good luck with yours, G. I have carefully avoided nuts and chewy and hard foods, but I am getting braver after five months. LOL~~

PS - I have Damon brackets, ceramic up top and metal bottom and molars
