how did you cope wth rubber bands?

#1 Post by emlephant »

Just got my rubber bands today, and I don't know how to cope with them... the thought of changing them every time I eat (like at school) just scares me. Does anyone know how I can manage this?

Just do it.

It may be an annoyance, it may be weird/awkward, but if you get into good practice and do your due diligence they will do what they need to quick and hopefully you won't need them for too long.

Unfortunately in my case I got rubber bands (also called elastics) on day one of having braces, and I still have to put them on and switch them out several times a day (I'm on like my 8th configuration or something like that, so they have done a lot of good in my case); I hope I don't need them for much longer (supposed to have braces until at least August).
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

Braces removed since 11/06/17

It will get easier with repetition, but they are a hassle. I hated them. Try to go into automatic mode when you remove or apply them and try to think of the final result -- a beautiful smile.

And don't worry about eating a few.... :-* It's just something that has to happen, you'll get good at putting them in without looking, and change them often...I carried baggies of assorted sizes that I needed everywhere...you never know where you'll be when they need to be replaced!

eat less often (it's healthier anyway), eat, go to bathroom, clean teeth and braces, apply elastics. Stuff like this isn't hard to figure out, it's just that you don't want to. I hate my braces, I want them off asap. I don't care about social norms when it applies to my braces, I listen to my orthodontist and do as he tells me and wear those elastic all the time

My best advice is to keep on it! People really don't care that you're changing your bands because it is so common now. And you start seeing a difference pretty quickly!
