Did anyone in your family get braces after you?

#1 Post by Tyrantblade »

When I was younger I was supposed to get braces, but it didn't happen due to lack of money, some of my brothers probably should have got braces too; but it didn't happen for them either.

Well, I ended up getting braces in August of 2015, and now that I'm nearly done 2 of my nieces got braces not that long ago

1 is 15 and thought she wanted braces as her teeth started getting messed up, plus she started to think they were cool since she has friends with Braces, the other is 14 and said she needed braces last year and got them about a month ago.

As far as I know we are the only 3 in my extended family to get braces in a long time (i know most of my family, but there's 1 part of my family that I very rarely see); and I can smile confidently knowing I now have a pretty good smile (though not 100% complete until I get 2 permanent implants for a front tooth and a molar).

Interestingly enough, we are going down a month before my last currently scheduled Ortho appointment (a couple teeth to the left and right of my fake front tooth need to move right to 100% line up my midlines and close a small overjet between my top and bottom teeth), so it will (probably) be my last family vacation with my braces still on; and hopefully by next July (next family Vacation); I'll have the full implants done.
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

Braces removed since 11/06/17

I am the first in my family to have braces because of the costs! I'm in the Caribbean and it's costing $36,000 to get mine which is a lot of money here.

My wife is in the early stages of looking at getting braces. She has had her first consultation and is awaiting some other minor dental work before proceeding. My daughter is also on yearly follow-ups and will probably be getting braces in a couple of years time.

Ha, i feel like so many kids/teens think of braces only as some form of torture; not knowing the blessing it is for them to get them while their parents are the ones paying; instead of the kids/teens needing to pay thousands as an adult; i never got braces as a teen (even though my dentist at the time recommend them as i had an Overbite); so ive had to pay $6000 and im almost at 2 years of treatment time, with about another 3 to go.

And the worst part is i will probably need another $4000- $6000 or maybe a little more for 2 permanent dental inplants.
