Bite Stoppers

#1 Post by IssaAnon »

Hey guys I just got braces put on October 2nd. The ortho put bite stoppers on my first molar because i have a crossbite. I'm assuming its so that I don't accidentally bite my braces off. Am i correct in assuming that the bite stoppers will come off eventually after my bite has been fixed? Or do bite stoppers stay forever?

Mine were behind my upper 2 front teeth. They came off less than halfway through treatment. They are to prevent you from damaging your braces.

My dentist calls them "blue mountains" because the the material is in blue.

I had mine at my molars to prevent my top teeth from knocking off my bottom braces and had them for around 3 months.

I supposed the duration varies person from person. A friend of mine with overbite had stoppers since day 1.

Ive had them for 8 months; they rebuilt them a couple timrs, and then they got rid of whatever didnt just wear off over time.
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

Braces removed since 11/06/17

Indeed, they are to stop you from biting your own braces one with another. I found a lot of support here, it's been almost 2 weeks and I am past the panic stage, up to acceptance stage. Chewing with them is tricky. My guess is your ortho removes them once you are safe from biting your braces together, so, it depends on each bite.

Trust me, they are a blessing in diguise. I was kinda panicked at first, but i got used to them and they also got flatter pretty fast. I actually wish they were a tad bigger (wish my ortho had rebuilt them) because i keep touching a bracket when i bite and the tooth is starting to hurt preeeety damn badly.
