Hi, sorry to bother everyone here again with my worries.

I just keep having this issue with my wire in one area and I really want to ask about it - so on my top row of teeth all the teeth are braced. For a while now I've had issue with the back molars on the left side - the end sticking out of the backmost molar on the left side had been bothering me; it notably move when I touched against it. My orthodontist told me it was fine, but I still have issue with the wire connecting the back two molars of the same side. It had always bothered me but I left it alone. Today I noticed that the wire there did move up and down ever so slightly when gentle pressure was against it. I can't FEEL it like I could the sticking-out end but I can see it. The wire on the other side of the same spot doesn't seem to do this - does that sound like the wire is broken to anyone? (I should clarify it's not visibly bent, I can just see it move slightly when I touch it).

I don't really want to go to my ortho, they hear enough from me and while I trust her competency she doesn't exactly like to answer my questions and I don't want to make another appointment for something that I've already-sort-of seen her about to boot. Still i can't help but worry. It's a month before my next adjustment and I don't want to affect the movement or health of the teeth.

I have been very careful with what I eat but I use an electric toothbrush my ortho prescribed and sometimes when I'm moving it around in my mouth while brushing it'll hit against my brackets and wires. Also, because of the current awkward position of the teeth, when I bring my teeth together the lower molars kind of hit the wires and brackets at the top. Bit of a problem since I do this all the time accidentally, and when it's cold out and my teeth start chattering it's very difficult to keep them from clicking together - could any of this weaken the wire over time? (The wire is nickel- titanium btw, don't know if there's different kinds).

Ive had this happen to me sometimes, only on one side, never seemed to be a problem. dont worry :D

First, don't be afraid to call your ortho. They see this stuff all the time and are there to help you. I lived through a month of pain from a wire sticking out and when I finally went in for my appt. they scolded me for not coming in sooner. Second. Get some dental wax. You can find it at any grocery/pharmacy and it works wonders when you have a problem. Just stick it on the problem area and it will buy you time till you can get to your ortho. Dental wax will be your best friend as you go through this adventure.
