dental implants? gums teeth ruining my life in late 20s

#1 Post by pdont »

hi

could anyone offer support

the patient has terrible gum recession and bite. teeth aren't so great either
its os bad they cant even walk a
just had a terrible gum surgery that didn't go well
has anyone had adult braces with gum recession and later got dental implants?
any other suggestions. I'm thinking we could get 1)try more gum grafts 2) braces and jaw surgery 3) veneers 4) dental implants on some teeth ... obviously this will cost probably so much money but what other options are there really
what would you do

I'm going to get implants when my braces come off. I never got dental cleanings when I was younger (I'm 41 now) and as an adult, was to scared to go. That resulted in tons of decay that made my upper molars crack and break off at the gum line.
I've always been subconscious of my teeth as I have/had a major overjet due to thumb sucking until I was 16. Earlier this year, I was finally financially able to do something about it. I ended up getting 7 teeth pulled, . Got my remaining cavities filled and got a deep cleaning.
Got my braces on June 9th of this year. Was told I will have them on about 2yrs. Once they come off, I will be getting implants (if my bone is hard enough as I have osteoporosis) to replace my molars. As of right now, I only have 3 molars left on top.

Implants are not done by the ortho, it is done by the prosthodontist. So treatment plan from the ortho would only include the duration and work that needs to be done to straighten the teeth and fix bite issues. Implants will come after you are done with braces.

As for whether it will look nice, I personally don't have any, so I can't tell from first hand experience. But they have been known to work well and people can't tell them from their natural teeth. But if you have gum recession, there will likely to be black triangles around those implants, which may be fixable with gum grafts I think.

Also, for implants to work, you do need to have sufficient bone or get a bone graft.

Im going to start the dental implant process in the near future; i had a consultation with the Implant Dentist already (a specialist with a very long time in the field); they are reviewing a CAT scam X-ray to see if i need the bone grafts; then once thats healed i can get the screw part put in and a few months after that the top part.
Lots of crimes here

1. The upper molars bite too far ahead of the lower molars

2. Missing teeth #s 9, 14, and, 29

3. Open bite

4. Upper midline left of center

5. Lower midline right of center

6. Upper and lower teeth not straight

Sentence - 24 months, turned to 27 month.

Braces removed since 11/06/17
