Power chains turning green?

#1 Post by Mystea »

I’ve had my braces for 9 months now and for about 2 months I’ve had a power chain, recently I’ve noticed they
Are turning green from silver. I am brushing correctly but I don’t know what’s causing this issue. If someone has experienced this or knows what causes it please tell me.

Oftentimes curry or tumeric will cause powerchains or ligatures to turn greenish. I started favoring colored powerchains...electric blue was my favorite, followed by hot pink.

My band colors ALWAYS fade by the next appointment I have with my ortho. I find that acidic foods and foods that can stain can cause for the discoloration.

I had mine changed every week and they always turned a disgusting brown colour. My dentist only ever used clear ones that would discolor within 24 hours. It didn't help that I smoked and drank green tea all day.

I actually think green sounds a lot cooler than the colour mine went.

I understand it's really upsetting having strangely coloured power chains, but they do such a good job that I think it's worth suffering the extra indignity for the end result. You should take a picture of them looking their absolute worst and most disgustingly stained, then when your braces are finally removed you'll feel even better about how good they look!
