Impossible to fix a tilted-inward left molar?

#1 Post by yogurtyoga »

My left second molar tilts inward. My orthodontist said there is no way to correct it to a favorable transverse position. But I am painful with the teeth rubbing my tongue all the time. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

This is a picture of my bottom teeth, and my concern is the left second molar (the last teeth on the right side of the picture), which the orthodontist said it would be better to leave it where it is.

Also the dental arch of my bottom teeth is asymmetry. The left side of the arch (on the right side of the above picture) is more narrow than the right side, it is kind of obvious when you imagine a line between the two canines, and you will see the line is leaning. I expressed this concern but my orthodontist said that is because the teeth on the left arch are too crowded. But if so, couldn't this crowdedness be fixed by braces.
I have been on braces for two years now and he is going to remove the braces after one more visit.
I am so worried.

How does this molar fit with the top one? If the lower molar does not mesh together well with the top one then it sounds like some kind of a posterior crossbite which I believe can be fixed with elastics. Your ortho shouldn't be leaving you with a less than ideal bite after treatment so I would press him/her about it.
