Or should I schedule an appointment with my orthodontist to be safe?

Edit: I’ll be able to get an appointment with my regular dentist as soon as the next day, but it’s gonna be tough getting an appointment with my orthodontist on a short notice.

I would personally chose to go see my orthodontist considering that he is the one in charge of my orthodontic case.

I just see it more in this way. For example, when you bring your car to see a mechanic. It's always better for you to always go see the same mechanic. One person changes your brakes and does a good job. You bring your car to another person when the breaks need changing again and does a good job. But, when you bring your car back to the first person, they tell you that that other person did a bad job.

I don't know if this analogy made sense... But, I hope you get what I mean. You don't want your dentist to do something good, but then your ortho will say that he messed something up.

I would just wait the extra days, even though I know how painful it must feel. Go hardcore on the wax!

If it's just a wire protruding from the last bracket, your dentist can handle that easily.

Thanks for the replies!

@angeamber I get what you mean!

@ djspeece Yup, it’s the wire that’s protruding from the last bracket.

I called my clinic this morning and they managed to squeeze me in for an appointment with my orthodontist in the afternoon.

I’d also checked with my orthodontist, and she said she’d prefer for me to see her for anything related to my braces, unless it’s really urgent and she’s out of town.

Also, it feels great to not have wires shredding my cheeks!
