Hook getting stuck in my gum?

So I went to get my braces tightened yesterday and while my orthodontist was putting my powerchain on, she said that one of my hooks was stuck in my gum and she was trying to get it out without putting me in too much pain (spoiler alert!! It hurt a lot) . and it’s already starting to go back into my gum. like it’s not in my gum yet, but it’s pushing pretty hard against it. Why is this happening? Are my gums really swollen? How does it get INTO my gum?
(Also I have really small teeth teeth so the braces are very close to my gums)

I can't tell if your gums are swollen without a pic.
If they are, I've read that swollen gums can be because of poor oral hygiene or sometimes the gum tissues don’t like the proximity of the braces and react by swelling/overgrowing.
Perhaps go back to your ortho and see if she could adjust the bracket a little if it's digging into your gums?

it would be hard to get a picture of it because it is on one of my back molars. and now the area that she “dug” the hook out of is infected or something (it has a pus pocket on my gum).

An infection or pus pocket is not normal. Please go back to your ortho or a dentist and get them have a look at it.
