Hey friends,
Sorry about all the headgear posts but the whole process has been confusing. I just started to feel a crunching sensation in my back molars when I put my headgear in, and when I bite down with the headgear. I also can't open my jaw without it snapping or popping. My last problem is that my upper jaw starts to cramp when I smile or open my mouth to eat. All these symptoms have recently started, and I don't know if I have a serious issue or not. Has anyone had similar symptoms? Any advice is greatly appreciated,

Re: Crunching and Cramping with Headgear
The crunching is probably a loose molar band. I'm not sure how your upper jaw would cramp when you eat; you don't have any moveable parts in it; lips or cheeks?
The popping in the TMJ could be an issue and should be talked about during your next visit.

Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

Sorry about the bad terminology LOL. The cramping is the upper cheek. Like when you smile, the part of your cheek that raises, that's where the cramping is. Sorry about all the questions but do you happen to know what a burning sensation in my jaw right below and a little to the left of my ear would be from?
