Can’t bite down with retainer
I have a clear plastic retainer on my top teeth and I can’t bite down and if I do bite down it feels like I might break the retainer, is this normal?
Re: Can’t bite down with retainer
I'm not sure what retainer you have -- I have the Vivera hard-plastic type, and need to remove it before eating -- and yes, I think if you bit down hard you will damage the retainer. Take it out when eating or drinking. Best of luck to you.

Re: Can’t bite down with retainer
Hi, thanks for your reply I have an Essix retainer, i hate it! I can hardly bite down with it as I’m afraid it will break, I only have to wear it bedtime. My very back top tooth hits my bottom tooth and I’m worried it will snap or break if I bite down on it. Thanks again

I just got my retainer and it feels the same - only my back two molars connect .. I don't often sit with my bite completely closed anyways so its not a big deal but it feels sooooo strangeFiatbraces wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 3:46 pm I have a clear plastic retainer on my top teeth and I can’t bite down and if I do bite down it feels like I might break the retainer, is this normal?
