Clenching with elastics

#1 Post by desertd »

Got Class II elastics a couple of weeks ago and I have found myself clenching my teeth more. Has anyone else done that? Is this something to be worried about?

It would be something to bring up with your ortho at the next visit. He/she will want to know if you are having any pain, and when (e.g., upon arising in the morning). I think I may have clenched a bit more when I first got elastics, at least at first. I don't recall it being any special problem. Best of luck to you.

I’ve had my class II elastics for about 6 weeks now. For the first 3 weeks or so I felt myself pulling my jaw forward, I guess that was my way of my mouth getting used to them.i don’t notice myself doing that anymore.
