Clear vs Tooth Colored Ceramic

I have tooth colored ceramic braces. I'm really disappointed in how they look. When the light catches them in a certain way it either appears as if my teeth are rotten, or you just see the ceramic brackets and it looks like I have little pegs for teeth. Prior to getting the ceramics I had mostly seen photos of clear brackets that looked o.k. to me. Mine are definitely noticeable in a bad way. I hear removing the brackets can potentially damage your teeth, so I don't want them changed at this point, but I'm disappointed my ortho just glued these on without showing them to me.

Anyone else with the "tooth colored" brackets that are having similar issues?

I hated the way my teeth looked in photographs for the reasons you mentioned. I just put up with it until finally I was debraced. I feel your pain. Best of luck to you.

I wonder if the "clear" look better?

I'm not sure if there is complete distinction between clear and tooth coloured brackets. I had Damon Clear brackets which were semi- transparent but with a whiteish tint. They seemed to tone well with the actual colour of my teeth. They were by no means invisible and could clearly be seen as braces in close-up photos. However, they were far less obvious than metal brackets and I felt more able as a middle aged professional man to wear them with confidence.

I am sure you will become accustomed to your braces in time. It took me about 6 months to stop worrying about what people might think.

Good luck with your treatment!
