i'm 15 years onl and i'm getting my braces on in 10 days. i'm gettingthe top braces on the 15th and the bottom braces on on the 22nd.

1) how long does it take to put them on.

2. can you still use whitening toothpaste.

3. what do they feel like.

4. how do they take impressions.

5. what color should i get.

To be honest I have not asked, but I guess no. You should brush to have them white

well hard to say, for me after 3 days (bottom, 5 days for top) I kind of got used to them, they feel like something, but after a while you forgett about it

They put a plastic tray with a thing in it in to your mouth, it's pain less

5. what color should i get.

I guess you are asking for ligatures-the one you like the most

Impressions don't hurt at all-they put this wet, goopy mixture into a tray, you bite down on it( 2 different times-1 for top, 1 for bottom) & it takes about 1 min to start hardening & thickening up where it can mold to your teeth & voila! They have an impression! Easy & quick! No pain AT ALL!

My ortho told me no to whitening toothpaste ... but I still do

I'm a big coffee drinker, so my theory is that the whitening toothpaste will mainly keep the staining down. I've never been one to follow instructions though.

At first the braces feel huge ... it feels like they stick out so far, but then they settle down and you can barely notice they are there.

If i was getting a color ... I would go purple, or aqua ... or alternate purple & aqua

(I have clear/ceramic braces - colors would completely defeat the purpose of having clear braces for me lol)

2. can you still use whitening toothpaste. Yes, my daugher used only whitening toothpaste for 2 years with braces with no ill-effects. The little sample tubes that my kids ortho gave out was whitening.

3. what do they feel like. Metal chunks glued to your teeth

4. how do they take impressions. Bite into a "tray" full of silly-putty like goop.
