Options besides Pallate expanders?

I was just wondering if anyone knew of what options there are for moving the front top teeth forward?

I didn't ask when they put my brackets on, and I still have two weeks before my first adjustment to ask the ortho. I do know that they are making room for a tooth to be moved forward first, then she is going to move my front teeth forward because they meet straight on with my bottom (causing wear on my teeth.)

The only stories I've heard are of people having "the thing in the top of their mouth" but they didn't mention anything like that at my inital consult or when bracketing me. (Well, I didn't really have a consult, he said it was minor and that they knew what they were going to do, no need for a workup.)

I'm very positive about the braces experiance, but not so much on the idea of having an expander.

Has anyone had this problem or know if they can do that with an archwire?

I appreciate any feedback anyone has.

HI Amychelle. I noticed that your time estimate was about 6 months, so I would say you don't have to worry about a palate expander. I think they can tilt your teeth forward just with the different arch wires.

I have one front tooth that sits back from the others, so when I smile with my teeth closed my teeth weave in and out sort of. I don't need an expander. My ortho used the Damon 3's to achieve the room he needs to get the tooth forward where it belongs. I didn't have to have any extractions either. The extractions I have had were not for make room. They were to remove a retained baby tooth and a molar that needed a root canal but I didn't have the money so had it pulled. I am really eager to see how this tooth will move forward.
