Four days and counting...

#1 Post by thecoffeemouse »

I have had my braces on for 4 days now. I have ceramic on top and bottom (at least the front 8, with metal in the back). I also got spacers in that will be removed on Thursday. Metal bands and the last 8 brackets go on that day as well. It's hasn't been as bad as I imagined, but my lips are sore, and my teeth are tender. I haven't really be able to eat much, but that is a good thing! LOL. Braces are a fabulous way of making you think before you put something in your mouth.

It seems crazy, but I have noticed my teeth moving already. I knew that the spacers would move them, but I didn't realize how much. I hope that pace continues after the bands go on. It's so exciting to see movement, and makes the pain bearable (mostly, ).

The most disturbing part is that my teeth have moved so much that I can't really bite normally. I am CONSTANTLY biting down on my tongue. It's almost as if my tongue is now too big for my mouth. Very odd.

I'm will try to post pictures soon. :O)

I am pretty new to the forum as well and I am being braced on Wed so I will be right there with you very soon...so you have ceramic on top and bottom? Cool - can't wait to see the pics... :D

I know what you mean about thinking before eating...the spacers I have had in have made my back teeth tender and therefore I really have to think before preparing my lunches and dinner...

Hope you really enjoy all the wonderful benefits this board has to offer. Welcome and good luck on your journey!
