bending the wire?

#1 Post by secretagent437 »

I went to the ortho this week and they bent my wire. Does anybody know why they would do this? And they gave me BIG rubber bands why would they do this? They said it was to close my bite...and i don't know what that means either lol

Curious! Where did they bend your wire?

If they are trying to close your bite, it means you have an open bite.... somewhere your teeth are not meeting when you close your teeth?

They bent it to the right and to the left of my right inscor (the big one)tooth. I could show you a picture but you can't really see the bend. Heres a picture:

you can kind of see the one on the left but the one on the right is a little bit more clear.

i know what you're talking about, I have the same thing "on" my canine (see picture: viewtopic.php?t=6334).
I guess it's instead of repositioning the brackets... I guess. ;)

Hi secretagent! :) When I had braces, my ortho bent my wire because a few of the teeth were sort of getting 'pushed' back, and he wanted to bring them forward. For some reason, bending the wire in that way helped. Your smile looks great! Good luck :)

I got my wire bent a lil bit today too. The way my ortho explained it was that he didn't want the wire hugging my corner teeth, he wanted the wire to bend around them instead.
