Why do you think Bottoms usually finish first?

#1 Post by Brodie »

I was just wondering, you always seem to notice that like 9 out 10 cases people's uppers are worse off then there lowers. Do you think that is due to the form of ones bite, and the way we chew etc.....or just because we tend to notice the top braces on people more?? I guess I'm just wondering why it takes to top longer...

I am just the opposite... more problems with my bottom teeth, than my top teeth. I think it is just the way your teeth grow in. The two bottom teeth next to my front teeth grew in rotated, where as none of my top teeth did. My top teeth have moved great, my bottom teeth are being really stubborn.

My tops were nearly perfect, it's the bottoms I got braces for.

I'm the same, my top teeth are almost straight in just 3 months but my bottom ones don't appear to have moved at all.

When I got my braces put on, the ortho told me that tops would go on first, and then the bottoms, because the bottoms "dont take as long." Pssh. My bottoms are taking FOREVER! I still have one tooth that doesnt haven enough room to be attached the the wire, and Ive had the bottoms on since late July of 04.

Recently I knew of 2 people who had their tops removed and only had the bottoms left to straighten out.

It is weird. Both my sister and I have great looking bottom teeth now, but the top teeth are still plugging away under the brackets. It's definately worth looking at the statistics. Maybe there isn't that big of a difference or maybe there is. Hmm....... :computer:

My bottom teeth are definitely doing much better than my uppers. Which is a shame ... cause you can't really see the bottoms anyway.

I just got my tops on and the ortho said that I will have bottoms on in the next 6 months or so...my bottoms are really straight other than the one middle one which is really quite crooked. :)

Neat topic to think about...I think that the tops take more abuse as someone says and that might be why the tops tend to need more work than the bottoms...but I think it is really how your teeth grow in and the shape of your jaw/mouth.

Just my thoughts... :)

After four months my tops look ace and are pretty much getting there. The bottoms went on about 6 weeks ago and seem to have already made significant progress.

I got my top braced 4.5 months before my bottoms. My top teeth are pretty much done now (9.5 months later), but my bottom teeth are moving SO slowly which is disappointing. I've had nothing like the progress in 5 months on the bottom that I did on top.
