Time for teeth to "settle" - is this normal?

I have been braced for 15 months now due to very bad over crowding and had another adjustment last week. My teeth are pretty straight now and it's just a matter of closing the last of those pesky gaps. My ortho took all the springs, elastics and powerchains off my teeth and said that he would like my teeth to "settle" until my next adjustment in 5 weeks time. Is this normal and does this mean I'm getting closer to the end?!
Thanks,
Katy

yep, def. normal! Because they don't want to move the teeth if ur about to get them off. Just to stabilize ur bite and stuff.
I kinda had the same thing happen, except they just changed the ligs and did nothing new....then they said they will do some detailing next appt. I asked Dr. Randall what 'detailing' was and he told me that is the finishing adjusments to get ur teeth 'just so'.
I'll be having these baby's on for 2 yrs at the end of november....
But, at ur next adjustment, get a removal date just to be on the safe side
Good luck!
Bye!

According to my ortho, my teeth are "settling" right now. I'm set to get mine off in December so I'd say you're pretty close too!

Thank you both for responding.. you've given me a bit of hope. There is light at the end of this long, dark tunnel!
Good Luck to both of you with your treatments...

It's so your roots can heal. If they move stuff too soon it will damage your roots.
