…is it that they can make an implant, small enough to fit inside the inner ear so you can hear :?: ... or an artificial vertebral joint and disc that can support your head and torso :? … but they cant make a bracket that has smooth edges that wont tear up your cheeks? :soremouth: Just wondering. :Questions:

I agree! With all of the advances in modern medicine, why is the front of my inner lower lip torn to shreds? It makes no sense to me either....

I am told that my lips need to "toughen up" but you are right Barbiedoll, they shouldn't have to!

I dunno, but maybe it has to do with the cost effectiveness of the whole process. Regular brackets are mass-produced (IIRC, linguals are individually made, hence the reason why they're so expensive), and maybe it's just not economically sound to make them out of nicer more cheek-friendly material for what we're willing to pay. Would you pay twice as much for your braces if it meant fewer canker sores? Just food for thought...
Waiting for life to settle down a bit before committing to 3 years of braces, lower jaw surgery, crowns and some whitening.

I would pay extra for three years of more comfort. At least I would have liked to be given the choice. Working in the medcal field, I still find it hard to believe they can't make them more comfortable. Something I'm going o ask about at my next visit. I just thought it would be a fun question. :computer:

I sooo agree with you!!
I don't understand why last night my cheeks were fine and this morning, they're sooo tear up..maybe I've been speaking during the night? Who knows!!

I guess I'm lucky.. My braces don't bother my lips/cheeks the tinyest bit. :P

The most they have ever bothered me was when I had my wisdom teeth out and my lower lip was swollen for some reason. Even then they just left dents, not painful just bothersome :P

Sorry, this probably doesn't make you feel better lol
