How does the orthodontist go about putting your spacers in?

Are you awake when the procedure is taking place?
Does it hurt when they put them in?

eep!

like flossing

I just had my spacers removed today after 10 days. What they did was string two pieces of floss through the blue little rubberbands - spacers - and then floss them into my teeth and then slightly pull it out so that it's all nice and between both of my teeth and centered and stuff. I was awake, and there's no reason not to be. It's not so scary it's just the sounds and the pressure that is kind of alarming at first. It almost seems like your teeth is going to be pulled out, and I got scared and didnt say anything. The lady was like "Don't worry, I know it seems like I am goign to rip your teeth out,but I won't, I promise." It doesn't seem like that because of pain. It doesn't hurt putting them in, more discomfort. But about 3-4 days afterwards, it started getting really sore and achey
