I've been looking around on different web sites about Crown Lengthening and they always seem to mention that the only way it can be done is if something else is done with it ...like veneers are placed on etc...

Can I have crown lengthening for the sole purpose of just wanting more tooth exposed for my gummy smile?

Oh and if anyone's got any advice on the procedure...lemme know too... Has anyone reading this had it done? Did it hurt? Are your teeth any more sensitive now? Was it worth it? How much did it cost?

I had crown lengthening done this past May. Here is my before & after pics. I did not have to get veneers. However once I had my gums "lifted" I decided to do ortho treatment instead of veneers or bonding. I have spaces between my upper teeth and crowding on the bottom... Ortho treatment is way less expensive & less invasive than veneers. If you have any questions about the procedure let me know. Good luck with your decision.

I know a guy who had a gummy smile and had it fixed but not by doing anything with his teeth. They cut that muscle/tendon that connects your upper lip to your mouth. That is what causes the lip to go up and expose too much gum. That muscle is too tight or too short-something like that.
I don't know who did it for him-meaning, if it was an oral surgeon or a plastic surgeon.
