Teeth getting worse?

I've had my braces 6 months now, I got 4 extractions prior to that, the bottoms I was okay with because my teeth were very crowded but I was sceptical about the top as I felt I was never going to have enough teeth to fill the 2 huge gaps.
Anyway my teeth were looking GREAT within a couple of months, really straight and nice but in the past few months as my extraction gaps have been closing I've developed HUGE gaps between the rest of my upper teeth.

Am I being paranoid or do things really get worse before they get better?

You put it well when you said things will get worse before they get better. To close those gaps that were created, other teeth will need to move creating more gaps, in the end though it'll be all for the better!

I think depending on what treatment is, this happens to some of us. Maybe your ortho can give you a timeline as to when the gaps might close up completely. It can be a long process depending on what you need to have done and how many gaps are created. Hang in there. Oh, and I know what you mean about filling those gaps, how the heck are they ever going to fill that big space - I am wondering the same thing!

I'm in the same boat. Started with a huge gap in the center on my upper. Now the gap is more noticeable on the side. I think it's just part of the process. Keep positive and focus on how fab your smile will be when its all done!!
