Check out the cover of Seventeen magazine...

On the stands right now is the new issue of Seventeen magazine and the cover girl, Jennifer Steele, apparently won some contest on MTV to be Miss Seventeen. Why am I telling you this? Because she has braces!! And she's got them on the cover!

Hope this link works. (p.s. I'm 40 and even I was excited when I saw it.) Just something to brighten up everyone's day - a cover girl in braces!

And is it just me, or is that a baby canine with no bracket on it? I wonder if she has an impacted canine...

I don't know anything about the Miss Seventeen contest, but it sounds like a beauty pageant, which I despise with every fibre of my being. But still, it's nice to see a 'flaw' being appreciated by one of them.

It wasn't really a beauty pageant though she did win a modeling contract, it was more of a "role model" contest. there were 17 girls on the show and she was choosen at Seventeen's rolemodel of the year.

Well, it is a teen magazine. They did the same with Phoebe Cates back in the 80s. Phoebe's pic

Phoebe still looks like she's 17, LOL. That woman just does not age!

Great cover. One of those pictures made that young lady look like a young Farah Fawcett. Could be her layered winged hair.

Interesting that you mentioned this. I was waiting to get my nails done today so I flipped through the newest Elle magazine they had in a basket. It had an article on straightening teeth. The person in the article goes through the Invisalign route mostly, but what I found interesting about the article is its positive "beauty" spin on what straightening your teeth can do for you. Anyway here it is: Elle's Straight Talk

I feel like not only do I spot more people with braces on the street now that I have mine, but that I come across more articles like these as well.

I watched almost every episode of that show and wanted Jen to win from the start, so I was so happy when she did! She's increidble and has been through more hard stuff than I could ever imagine, she really deserved everything!

Besides a modeling contract you get an internship at Seventeen magazine with the editor (another incredible woman) and a college scholarship.
