Doesn't feel as clean.

I don't know if it's just me, but my mouth doesn't feel as clean after getting braced. I brush my teeth after every meal and I floss, but I can taste the metal. Do you guys know what I can do for my mouth to feel fresher??

I know what you mean. I;ve always been a good brusher but sometimes I find it very hard in braces, particularly if you have ulcers or sores where they rub, makes cleaning very painful and hard.

I tend to use lots of mouth wash and always have minty gum or smints handy just for a blast of freshness.

But sometimes I feel like something crawled in there and died.

Do you guys use a Fluoride Rinse? Just curious...I picked up this Colgate Phos-Flur Rinse at Wal-mart. It says it's supposed to help prevent white marks on your teeth....

Find a strong mouthwash, that has the best lasting effect in my opinion. And Leslie, I use phos-flur too. I'm paranoid about getting white marks on my teeth...so far so good but I guess I'll only know for sure when the braces come off

I couldn't live without my oral irrigator. If I don't "blast" my teeth after brushing and flossing, I don't feel completely clean either. I also use a splash of listerine or scope in the water and love how it makes my mouth feel fresh. Give one a try!

Ya, use a waterpick type thing. I swish, brush, and rinse. Then I use my water pick and then my sink is full of dinner :yikes: .

AFter I clean the sink out, my mouth feels very clean. Even the following morning my mouth tastes fairly good.

Never had the taste of metal unless I floss really hard and make my gums bleed...

Best if luck to you!!
