Getting My Braces Off (Excitement and Curiosity)

My orthodontist told me at my last adjustment on Friday that I'm getting my top braces off in March and my lowers off two weeks later in April (yay!!).
I'm estatic because I've only had them on since April '05, so they're coming off after less than a year. Plus, they'll be completely off a week before my 20th birthday.
That all came as a total suprise because he told me before they'd probably come off in October of this year.
I just hope nothing goes wrong before March! They didn't change my arch wire like usual - just changed the ligaments. But I'm still wearing the elastics, so I should be fine I guess.
Anyway, I've heard getting them off hurts because they have to scrape off the cement and all that jazz. What can I expect?
