I have been in braces about 7 months and thought my mouth had toughened up. All of a sudden (1 week after adjustment) the inside of my cheeks in the back are all tender again. Has anyone else had a relapse like this? My teeth could not have moved more than 1 mm! I am rinsing with salt water, peroxyl and contemplating wax again (oh no!)

hi, actually I'm at 1 1/2 years in braces and am going through the same thing!! I just got a clear powerchain on the upper all the way across and it's tearing up the inside of my mouth too and I'm also thinking about wax too! Try ambesol--that's a great numbing tool!

Often when your teeth/bite shift (even slightly) you can be back to square one with pain and cut up gums.

Oh ya, happens to me, too. I've had mine on for 11 months now and today I woke up with a huge sore spot on my lower lip...back to wax!

since you said you have noticed minimal movement....maybe you have been talking more than normal or ate some tough food.
I too have noticed that weeks after an adjustment my lips or gums may hurt. But its usually because i talk more than normal in one day, and my inside of my cheeks and lips get all tore up. Or if i go to a steak dinner and have a tough time or something. then from the movement my lips hurt.
But also even the littlest movement can rub a new area and creat pain....
