All this talk about overbites and overjets prompted me to call my ortho.

I inquired about the size in millimeters and percentages of my overbite and which of them I actually had.

Their response, both!

Overjet: 10mm

Overbite: 100%

Holy Cow!! Guess I've got a long way to go

I don't even know what those are :? My dentist and ortho never mentioned anything like that to me...no overjet, underbite, overbite, etc...just one crossbite.

Is that a lot? As in 10mm protruding to the front or something?

I'm right there with ya. 10 mm overjet and "almost" 100% overbite. I'm sure there's others out there with larger overjet. That's a record I don't really want to hold!

Yep Flora, its a LOT of protruding.

Funny thing is that most people dont realize that I have an overbite, which is weird beceause I can definitely see it.

Hey Chris,

Guess I'm not alone. I agree, definitely not a title I like holding. Hopefully these braces do what they are supposed to - and quickly too!!

I look forward to seeing your pics darkangel.

I'm going to try to keep a running log so that I can track the progress.

Do you guys do the same?

I was wondering how your orthodontist is reducing/correcting your overjet? I have an overjet and will be getting braces in a few months to reduce the overjet.

I have a crossbite which is currently being corrected with an expander.

Thanks.

It took about a year and a half to get my overjet down to 4mm. However, I didn't have extractions done until over 6 months into treatment. If I'd had the extractions done at the beginning of my treatment my overjet may have been reduced even sooner.
