Does blue cross blue shield cover orthognathic??
I have not been diagnosed with anything yet and have no xrays. I have done several free consults with different orthodontists, and alot of research and am pretty sure I will need Le fort l, I want to go ahead and buy insurance before I get started... but I really don't know where to start, has anyone had luck with a particular company and plan? Do I need dental and medical? I'm kindof leaning toward blue cross blue shield, thanks for any ideas...
I have BCBS and they paid all my hospital and a good portion of my oral surgeon's bill. That being said, even BCBS plans can vary, so I would not guarantee that they would cover it. It has to be submitted as a medical necessity (to correct function or something like that).
Dental would be good, if you can get it to cover some of your ortho, but most dental plans don't cover for adults or make you wait one to two years before they will do so.

That is what I was hoping to hear
I beleive I am going to get bcbs, even if they don't pay for much, i think it would be a good idea to have med insurance, to back me up just because it is surgery and complications can occur. I am a nurse, so altho I'm sure all will be fine, I feel safer with medical coverage at the time. and hopefully they may cover some of the bill. And the dental is about $10 a month so it would hurt to get that too.
