very sensitive front teeth post SARPE
I just had a quick question for you guys ... I had SARPE a month and a half ago and boy oh boy do I have some sensitive teeth. The perplexing part is it is only my three front teeth on the right hand side of my very attractive gap. It actually feels like a horrible nerve pain and just touching/brushing them sends a sharp pain that I can only describe as unbearable. I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if I should make an appt with my surgeon again. It may be perfectly normal but it is hella painful. It also could just be a side effect from the long piece of my RPE pushing against them from the back ( that spot does seem to be the nucleus of the pain. ) Anyhoo just thought I would bounce it off you guys since you sure seem to have a wealth of information .. Thanks again for this site .. it has been soooooo incredibly helpful to gain knowledge and know I'm not the only poor sucker out there going thru this self inflicted torture
Also if it makes a difference I have had my braces with three power chains on for approx three weeks.

Hey Charlene,
This is totally normal, I had the same thing only on my left side. My front two incisors and left canine were very sensitive, for a long long time! They were also numb for the longest. My OS said that this is normal that the maxilary nerve is the last to regenerate and get feeling back into fully. When I would go for my ortho adjustments I always had to secure those three front teeth with my tongue, or the tech would have to put her finger behind them when installing new wires, a they were just excruciatingly sensitive.
Just this past month (over a year later) they have just started to get less tender and actually feel normal again. They are now almost fully back to normal, but it has taken a long time with these three! Hang it there, as it does get better!

Me too! My front teeth are/were very tender. When I had my top braces put on I had instant relief. For some reason having my teeth braced made them not as sensitive. They still hurt when the ligs and wires are changed but they feel better most of the time.
