Has anyone had inflamation around the screws?
I am 9 weeks out from lower jaw surgery and genio and still pretty swollen on the right side. During the last couple of days I've had pain on that side with more swelling. (I am finally getting some feeling back) Saw my OS this morning and in the xray saw some inflamation at the base of all three screws. He put me on antibiotics and said that if I didn't improve he would probably have to go in and remove the screws. Has this happened to anyone else??

screws
I can't address the issue but I can tell you I am sorry you are experiencing this.
Here's hoping the antibiotics do the trick and you are better in no time.

At my last visit to my OS, he checked my gums to make sure the screws were not protruding through. They weren't but he told me that if they were, he'd have to remove them. At that point I was three months post op and my bone had healed at about 90% and removing the screws would not have been a problem.
So, even if your OS has to remove your screws, it will probably be okay.
Hopefully the antibiotics will have their desired effect.

Yes this does happen. Check out Larkin's blog, sounds like she may be in the exact same boat as you.

HAVING SCREWS REMOVED
Thank you to everyone who replied--I took one round of antibiotics and the swelling and pain subsided. Saw my OS on Friday and he says that I still have swelling and the dark areas at the base of the screws are still there. I'm scheduled to have the screws taken out this Friday--Ugh! He told me that it isn't a bad surgery--like having a wisdom tooth cut out . He offered either and IV or shots with gas and I chose the shots with gas to avoid the preparation (no food/water for 6 hours) since the surgery is at 3:00 in the afternoon. Hopefully this will resolve the problem.
