unnaturally not nervous?
My surgery is wednesday around lunch time. And so far, I'm not nervous? Maybe it's because I've been thinking about and waiting for this day for what seems like forever. I feel more anxious and excited than anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll cry like crazy as soon as I get to that waiting room but as of today, my friends are more nervous than I am. Anyone else have a nerve free experience?

I was like that for the most part. I had a couple weeks where I was sorta having anxiety attacks in March, but after that I was fine. Honestly, I was fine all the way until they actually wheeled me into the OR then the nerves kicked in.
I mean I even slept the whole night before with no issues. I was very non-chalant about the whole thing. Even when they had to try 3 times to get my I.V in and the anesthesiologist came and talked to me. My blood pressure was 113/78 and I was very mellow. It didn't hit me until I was brought into the OR, and by then I got so choked up I couldn't speak and had tears in my eyes. I was even less nervous when I had my SARPE last year. I didn't get nervous at all for that one. They couldn't believe how calm I was and I stayed that way the whole time.
I think its good if you can not be too nervous, it helps save your reserves for the surgery instead of using them up on stress.
Good luck on your surgery. You won't regret it!

Wow you are holding up well I think I'm gonna be a wreck when my date is that close..it is next Thursday and I'm getting more scared everyday. It sure does seem to take forever for the date to finally arrive! You won't be the only one to cry! I know I will for sure. I cried before I got my wisdom teeth removed lol. Best of luck that your surgery goes well..I'm right behind you so I'll keep checking back to see how you're doing

hey don't cry. See it as a positive experience. After this all your problems will be gone.iristurquoise wrote:My surgery is wednesday around lunch time. And so far, I'm not nervous? Ehh. I wasn't really nervous about my surgery. It wasn't something that I really obsessed over. I think the one time I had a panic attack was the morning of the surgery (I had to go to the hospital early ), but after a few minutes of getting myself together, I was more anxious just to get it over with.
Hmmm. I guess it depends on the how a person handles stress.

Hi iristurquoise
It's like you said you've waited so long now you just want to get it over with. I wasn't nervous about either of my surgeries, there isn't much point you've done your bit its up to the surgeons now. So just relax enjoy some good food and see you on the other-side.
All the best.

Like you, I wasn't really nervous at all and after all the time spent working towards the surgery I just wanted to get on with it so that I would be on the 'home run' in terms of treatment. Once installed in my room at the hospital I kept myself occupied organising my kit (feeding syringes, Zn'S bags filled with water and mouthwash, vaseline etc) on my bedside cabinet , toothpaste, baby toothbrush etc in the bathroom. Worrying rarely does anyone any good!
Good luck! You'll soon be even better than normal!
