Can anyone confirm a link between temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) disorder and 'shiners' under the eyes? I found a few websites that seem to suggest they are related. If so, has anyone notice their dark circles disappear after treatment for TMJ (ortho surgery, using a mouth splint, etc).
Thanks very much for you help!

TMJ and circles under eyes
Do you have allergies? Other nasal obstruction? Over 70 years ago medical and dental journals showed illustrations of what looked like classic Type II profile: retruded lower jaw and overbite. Reportedly nasal obstruction causes mouth breathing which causes lower jaw to drop at an angle. This affcts TMJ. Dark circles under eyes was listed as being part of this. Name of "allergic face" or "adenoid facc" was given to this type face with lower jaw receding and eyes like you describe.
