How long did it take for you to get full feeling back in your lower lip and chin after jaw surgery?

I'm post op 24 days and I still have no feeling in my upper lip, nose, cheek bones and half of my lower lip. As well as no feeling in my chin. I've got the itches though so something's slowly coming back :)

I'd say a good 3.5 months to get full feeling in my chin and lips. When I gently move a finger across my lower lip I get a tickly sensation which feels quite funny! :D

I will be 3 months and 1 week post op tomorrow. Just this week I started getting a lot more feeling back in my chin and lower lip. Up until now about 1/2 of my lower lip has felt completely dead, like no feeling at all! and the other 1/2 was very tingly and sensitive to touch. My chin while I could feel it on the surface was very numb underneath the skin.

In the last week things have started to improve a lot! I can now scratch parts of my chin and actually feel it under the skin, and my lower lip is getting so much better. The dead part is getting feeling back, and the tingly part is dying down. My husband even said he can tell that things are getting better by the way I have been kissing lately. I can actually feel his lips now as opposed to nothing! I don't know what the norm is for return of feeling, a lot has to do with age, and the expertise of your surgeon, but it can take up to a year I have been told.

I'm on day # 8 after upper and lower jaw surgery. Currently only my bottom lip and chin are completely numb. It feels as if someone has taken a pump and blown up my bottom lip like a tire :) how long does this fat puffy feeling last? - is this the "numb" feeling - hope not. It's very annoying and almost painful

Eight weeks out, and still very tingly on my lower lip and chin. These things take time, and it also is a very gradual process.

I suppose feeling anything is better than nothing at all! :)

I'm eleven weeks post-chop and most of my numbness has gone. Only my upper gums and left half of my upper lip and palette are affected. Not bad seeing as I was originally numb from my lower eyelids down!
You will probably find it comes and goes depending on how active you've been! :jump:

I'm one year and one month post-op. I have small area of my lower lip left side and lower left chin that are still a little numb. After all this time, I'm still noticing improvement. My surgeon said up to two years is a possibility for all numbness to correct itself. My upper face, jaw, tongue and palate were fine by 6 months. It's fully recovering from the lower jaw advancement in combination with genio that is taking it's time. Truthfully though I forget its there, it's not major and the pluses far outweigh the numbness!

I'm 5 days post-op and still very numb and swollen. I get little tingling sensations from out of the blue so I'm hoping that's a positive thing.

I was wondering if having some numbness with a BSSO is pretty normal? Has anyone on here been through it and not have any numbness or tingling?

I am five months post-op and still have a spot on my lower lip/chin that is wierd and tingly. Not exactly numb, but not exactly normal either.
