unwired today after 4 weeks!

Just returned from the OS after getting unwired. Man, what a strange feeling! I had lower advancement and upper widening and my lower jaw feels so strange! I was hoping to be able to eat some real food, but I can only open my jaw about 1/4 inch, I can barely get a straw in there! Os wants me on a liquid diest for another 2 weeks - oh wells, at least I can talk now. He has rubber bands on each side and tommorow I have to see my ortho for a palate bar to be inserted so that the muscle does not bring back the shape to it's original form. Question: I just had a big spasm that kindo of hurt / scared me! I did a search on "spasm" and it seems that this is normal as the muscles start to be used again.... Anyone else experience this right after getting unwired?

Orangecounty, today was my unwiring day also. Cheers!!! I also have two rubber bands on each side. I'm not sure if they're for helping with the jaw placement or teeth placement. Any idea? I'm on a mushy food diet for 3 weeks. Jaw does feel weird, but it's sure great to be unwired.

Hi Pokergirl - congrats to you as well! I believe its for jaw placement, so that the muscles are not succesful in pulling back the jaw to it's original position. Have you had any sensations of pulling or muscle spasms yet?

I'm just banded completely shut not wired, but on Friday I'll be changing to elastics that I can take off thank god! But I have actually experienced spasms already. They are quite painful aren't they? Luckily they only last a second or two.

I haven't experienced any muscle spasms. Since I left my ortho's office yesterday, mine has pretty much been a constant throbbing.
