Elastics after bsso/leforte

How long on average is everyones ortho or surgeon making them wear elastics for??Im wondering when Ill be elastic free... Tuesday will be 4 weeks since surgery

I was actually in my elastics until I finished braces, but only at night after 3 months. But I've read about other people out from the day they're discharged. Like everything else, it really depends on your specific case and your surgeon's preferences.

Chrissy,

I wore elastics for 2 months after BSSO and the second month was for 12 hrs at a time. It totally depends on our individual outcomes after surgery.

I hope yours are off soon, but I know you'd rather your bite be as perfect as possible first.

I have been in braces for two years, jaw surgery 6 months ago, and had braces several years as a kid, and have never worn an elastic, ever.

I still have 6 months of treatment to go, so there's still time...
