re-growing nerves getting their wires crossed!

When I touch the bottom of my (very numb) chin, my lower lip tingles. Strange .....

Ditto that Sweetpea, my chin/lower lip are doing the same thing you describe, only my lower gums/bottom teeth are so sensitive to boot.

I definitely have a lot of this going on. When I rub my upper lip the top of my palate tingles.

Yeah I've noticed some oddities like this too, and they occur at different times. Even though I can't feel my lower lip, if I gently bite it between my teeth, I get a dull pain in the bottom of my chin (which is also dead in terms of sensation).

By far the worst thing though are 'phantom itches'. This is where you get what feels like a really bad itch on a part of your face with no sensation. As a result it itches like crazy but no matter how much you scratch, you can't get rid of it and you have to let it die away naturally. Anyone else get this?

I get these itches at night constantly, most commonly "behind" my numb nose, like in the area where all my screws are behind my nostrils. It drives me CRAZY. Plus it hurts to press on that area at all so I have to just lay there and bear it. Such a weird feeling.

Know what you mean about those itches, you just can't do anything. I get them in my right cheek which is still numb right up to my lower eye lid.

You guys won't understand this, but the MOST wierd thing is trying to put lip liner on!

Well, I do chapstick all day long which is strange so I can only imagine having to concentrate on something like lip liner. If you want some fun, try putting Blistex or Chapstick on without a mirror. What a joke.

A professor that I work with calls the iching without sensation sub-dermal iching and says it generally means something is healing and the nerve cells are testing out the new area.

I'm now really glad I use un-tinted lip balm.

Sweetpea: Me too. When I scratch bottom of my chin, I can feel tingling in my lower lip.

I have weird sensations too. When I bite a certain way it feels like water is running down my chin and I often feel like I have a piece of hair stuck to my lip but nothing is there. The weirdest and latest sensation I'm having is an itch on my chin but when I go to scratch it I can't feel myself scratching it. Fortunately it only lasts a few seconds!

I'm getting the phantom itching inside my nose (had rhinoplasty/septoplasty/turbinectomy as part of upper jaw fun). Very annoying, inside nose thing. Drives me crazy, no way to scratch it.
