9 months post-surgery still problems with muscles

I am 9 months post of from a BSSO - with complications. Nerve damage on my left side that also had a hematoma that took several weeks to go away.

Here is the problem:

I can't chew on my left side because I end up chewing on my gums but sometimes when I chew - I bite the muscles in the back. I can't open my mouth - as far as I should even with the jaw exercises and heat on it.

My left side still cramps up - from in my ear all the way to the numb part.

It doesn't feel like this is normal at this point. My right side of my mouth doesn't bother me.

Is this normal?
