Phil,

Great picture and great news! I see you're still smiling!

There is a website that describes the various jaw surgery procedures in great detail. When I got to the part about the oscillating saw, I stopped reading!

Yes, I believe I've turned a corner. And, the bite continues to improve with my implements of torture--ZEBRAS! I dare say, my orthodontist will be quite pleased on my May 12th visit. He should have very little work left to do then.

Darn it, Phil, I hate that about the accupressure treatments. I was getting all excited thinking I might try it, too, but I don't know if I will or not now. Anyway, it's GREAT you've been having a pain-free time, soon the good days will outnumber the bad, and you must be feeling pretty fine to wear the elastics because we all know how much pain they brought you in the past. I'd toast with you to better days with a Moosehead. That's a good beer

jjames,

I still recommend acupuncture. I believe that even the two painful treatments were beneficial.

Give it a try and see what you think, before you say no!

Arvensis,

Tried the chewing bit last night for the first time. Not so hot. Jaw POPS, but I suppose that's to be expected. Sigh. Soft chew--no problem.

Bite is looking great, though!

Soft chew is still better than brown!:) :) :)

Yeah, I expect it will take a bit before things feel "right" again all things considering for you Phil; I've been chewing for a while now and just tried gum last week (since got braces off and I used to be a gum addict) and it's still very very strange to chew gum. Other things - ok. Gum - strange.

Yay for Phil chewing!!!:) :) :)

Tonight I ate delicious food for dinner. REAL food. Tofu and veggies over buckwheat noodles. Delicious.

I still can't chew anything too hard, but I'm making progress.

I'll post another pic of my bite soon, so you all can see what great progress I'm making with elastics.

Now if I could only SLEEP at night!

I thought that was what the Moosehead was for! All kidding aside, not being able to sleep really sucks - I'm sending you a pm with an idea.

I wouldn't worry too much about the chewing yet - how many months has it been? It will take quite awhile to get the swing of things again.

Just got back from the orthodontist this morning. Saw the younger guy--really like him! He couldn't believe how good everything looked with my bite--and how good I looked as well. He told me I was GLOWING! Well, it doesn't hurt that I am no longer in pain (except after today's adjusment--oh well!), and I am now sleeping at least five hours a night.

Here are some pics to show you all just how good I AM looking!

ImageImage

Details: 19 copper upper and lower. Wire ties up top, O-chain on the bottom (except wire ties on the canines for added stability, due to pull from Class III Elastics). Class III elastics--ZEBRAS (snort, snort).

In six weeks, they will put in my FINISHING WIRES! I love that word--FINISHING. :D

Phil- I just wanted to say that yes, YOU ARE LOOKING REALLY GOOD. I know it's been a long haul for you but it's looking like it really has been worth it!
