Hi,
I finally get to hear about the treatment plan from my orthodontist today. Yeah...yet another step forward in a VERY LONG journey!!
I fully expect that my orthodontist will recommend a surgical approach as my "best option". If I had to speculate, it will be upper widening (SARPE?) along with lower expansion (BSSO?)...
To start that trek of finding a surgeon, I am wondering if anybody on this board has any referrals for Chicago area surgeons? Of course I am sure my orthodontist will have a couple to give me, but referrals from somebody who actually has been treated by the doctor would be more valuable. I'm extremely scared to go down this route, and I am going to need to find a surgeon that is experienced and puts me at ease.
If anybody has anything, could you please PM me. I would be extremely appreciative of the information.
Best Regards

Hey there. I like you just started my journey which I'm told should be complete in 2 years, maybe sooner. Just got my expander in today and go in for surgery on the 3rd so Im kinda nervous. The surgeon that Im using is set up in Lake Geneva but does his surgery in Woodstock IL, not to far from Chicago. His name is Dr. Conlon and from what I have heard he is very very good. My ortho and him work together and my ortho speaks very highly of him. I live in Janesville WI so I looked for a bit and didn't need to go to far really. Look him up.

NWOMS(northwest oral & maxillofacial surgery) has offices in Arlington Heights, Elgin and Lake Zurich. Dr. Chemello in particular is the surgeon I met with.
They do, however expect payment upfront and file for your insurance to reimburse. My sugery(3 wisdom teeth and an impacted canine and more..) isn't until Sept. 16th. So I can't give much of a review as far as that goes, however they were very professional, considerate, honest, ect. They showed me the xrays, ctscans, ect and explained the issues. I'm feeling very comfortable with them(not exactly thrilled or looking forward to the surgery though)
Your ortho will probably reffer you to a particular oral surgeon, I'm guessing.
