i can understand your frustration-having surgery is the next big step in your journey.I so wanted mine out the way -However as much as im glad its done its a slow process afterwards .i m not that far off 2 months and things are so much better but my bite still needs alittle work ,i still cant smile properly, still swollen and my chin is erupted into a rash (quite common im told)
I felt so much pretty before surgery-i think its the in between .When i was just fresh out of surgery you could tell i had some sort of operation now you cant so people are wondering-whats wrong with her face.I even had some random woman stop me and asked who hit me as my face was swollen on one side..
Sorry to take over your post-i apologise :)i hope your surgery comes by and before you know it you will be on the other side -recovering well...Chin up and take care..

Hi...Im new to this forum, but I have been reading posts since I got my brace on in June 2007...and I'm feeling EXACTLY the same as you! My operation was penciled in for before Christmas..which although would have meant having a pretty crap time over Xmas and New years, I was kinda looking forward to getting it out of the way this year.

Unfortunately it now looks like its going to be late Jan..which although isnt too much later, puts me in a difficult position. Ive just graduated this summer..so Im searching for a job at the moment but Im worried about telling a new employer that Im gonna need time off so soon after just starting..and I feel as though my life is on hold until I get this sorted. Don't get me wrong...I really want the op and cant wait to have a perfect smile but its just so hard at the moment as I feel like Im being left behind by having to stay at home until its done, and have to put everything I wanted/planned to do on pause! :(

I know how you feel. I've felt that way most days. After I had my braces for a year was the worst time for me. I hated not being able to close my mouth and all people could see was my metal. I hated the fact that the molar bands were still digging into the inside of my cheeks(they still do now at times). It frustrated me when I would call a place of business and they did not understand what I was saying and I had to keep repeating myself. It embarrasses me when I go out to eat with friends and have chunks of food stuck between my braces and I have to run to the bathroom to brush them........the list goes on.

My point is that even through all the annoyances that the braces/prep for surgery have caused me, those annoyances are far less than the problems I've experienced with my jaws. I just have to keep envisioning the end result.

Don't allow yourself to get too frustrated or give up because at this point you really can't control it but you can go with it and enjoy your journey. Remember that you've come a long way already and each day is a day closer to surgery.

I was quoted when i had my original braces consultation that it would be 10 months from getting my braces until I'd be ready for surgery. They were gonna put my tops on first, my bottom braces on at 6 months, which would put me at january 2009 for my surgery.

Im getting my bottom braces on a little earlier than planned next tuesday (my teeth arent super crooked, just a tiny bit crowded)

my question is..when they quote you at 10 months..do you usually have the surgery at that time or is there some massive waiting list? They only told me I just need a lower jaw advancement..
