So I have already decided where and what I want to eat for my last meal before surgery. But I was wondering if the surgical hooks will place a damper on my meal? Should I have my favorite meal before or after they go on?
Another silly question. Everyone says how difficult it is to talk after surgery. I know ventriloquists talk with their jaws together and only their lips moving so I am guessing it is too difficult to even move your lips just after surgery?
Last but not least, I am wondering about the need for the Jaw Bra. Since I am in Japan and not sure if the issues are still happening with the zip-n-squeeze website, I don't want to buy it from them and it not come. My surgery is on the 15th of April and shipping takes 2-4 weeks. I was thinking about the rice in a sock thing that Brandyleigh suggested and using a cloth to tie it around my head. Would that work?
Last meal before or after hooks?

The rice in a sock thing works.. and to be honest, you can find jaw bras at a lot of pharmacies, and depending on if you have your surgery in the hospital, they might give you one! Mine did.
The hooks didnt really interfere with eating before surgery for me, because they dont stick out too much like braces do. You might have a bunch of food stuck, but whatever!! Just make sure to check them after and make sure they didnt break off or anything.
Im exactly two weeks post-op BSSO/Genio and I still find it really hard to move my bottom lip. Sometimes its like its not moving at all.. I found right after surgery they were so swollen that it was a little hard for people to understand me. There are lots of exercises you can do that will help you get your lips moving, which I've found helps!
Hope it helps!
