Asian student, Caucasian surgeon

#1 Post by JamieMei »

Hey guys,

I understand that having jaw surgery will alter my face, but I have read a couple posts about some people not liking their appearance post op. I am Asian, so my face is not as defined as a Caucasian person's would be. I feel like any slight change to my jaw will make a huge difference in the way I look, and I am worried that my Caucasian surgeon will not take that into account. Are their any Asian people out there who had this surgery? Is there anything specific that I should discuss with my surgeon?

Thanks,
Sharon

P.S. I have an underbite, and I will be getting surgery in about a month.

I unerstand your concerns, but I think all maxfax surgeons understand the aesthetic and balance of the face regardless of ethnicity. If you tell your surgeon your concerns at least you can discuss it and hopefully ease your mind :)

I'm sure someone on here can offer more advise than that, though.... :P

Class III Blues headed a long thread awhile back that delved into ethnicity concerns regarding her surgery results:

Maybe she'll chime in or you can try PM'ing her.
