What do you guys think needs to be done? Would genioplasty improve my profile?
I hate the way my profile looks, and would like to even it up, so it would be more proportionate. I'm thinking about getting rhinoplasty as well as genioplasty, but genioplasty is number one on my list because i think it will help either way.
Pretty much, i am wondering if I should get a sliding genioplasty or a chin implant. I'm 19yrs. old and would like something that would last the rest of my life, and be worry free about something shifting out of place. Thats why I'm leaning towards Sliding genioplsty but am worried about nerve damage. Will genioplasty get rid of the round face effect? lol. Will it make my nose look smaller? What do you guys think? Is there any non surgical way to make the chin larger?
For the rhinoplasty, i would go conservative, because i like my frontal, but the profile i don't. What should be done, if i go through with this?
I have a consult in two weeks. Any recommendations for docs. in the Bay Area?
Thanks!!
Also, i have a long face, and am wondering if this is going to make it even longer? I believe they can raise my chin, which could help.

Sometimes the doctor you go to will have a strong preference for either doing chin implants or the sliding genio. If your bite is good, it would be less invasive to just do a chin implant, and probably a lot cheaper, too. But, your dr. will be able to tell once he sees you which way he would prefer to do it. You could always do a consult with a another doctor, as well, since he may have a different opinion.

Chin implant seems to have more percentage of asymetry / unhappy results. But again, you are risking the potential lip numbness / chin numbness.
As for the bay, this guy is fantastic. His website is primarily outlining sleep apnea cases, but he has done a LOT of Jaw surgeries and can prob help you.

Also, wait until you handle the chin before fckin with your nose. You will probably be happy with your nose because when you do the genio your face will be all proportional- plus you never know.. you may not want to alter the nose you were given with. Some people regret it years later..
i dunno. i think you look great the way you are. you probably wont believe me though, since before i got a genioplasty, people told me i looked great too. had it done and it was a total disaster, look completely normal again after getting it reversed. genioplasties are harder to reverse than chin implants though, but it is doable, especially if its in the first 6 weeks before the bone fuses. but implants make the bone recess (press on it so it gets smaller) over time by like 2 mm i think. if i were u, i wouldnt do anything at all.
genioplasties make people's faces longer, especially if they're isolated w/out jaw surgery. if you get either a chin implant or genioplasty or nosejob, id say do the chin thing, because at least that's reversable, whereas a nosejob isn't. id say though that bottom line you look great the way you are and i wouldnt tamper with how your face looks.
Just as clarification, in my understanding genioplasty does not always result in a longer face. The bone can be cut and slid forward which would give a longer profile, however genioplasty can also refer to a section of bone being shaved off and/or angled on a different plane which would result in a shorter face height.

I would go for the sliding genio, like others said on here it tends to have more satisfactory results, plus its permanent. It lasts a life-time, its not like chin implants which you may have to get replaced after about 10 years or so. It doesn't look like you have any lip incompetence or mentalis strain, from your pictures anyway, so a chin implant is a plausible root too...
with me, I had jaw surgery and then sliding genioplasty. I loved how much it was improved, but its still somewhat receded and I still have mentalis strain and lip incompetence. I am actually looking to maybe get another... although its a much more invasive surgery I'm confident it produces the best results.
How did your consult go by the way?
