Anyone else have Delta Dental insurance

#1 Post by streetmaster »

Im on my wifes Delta Dental plan, witch has $1500 of ortho benifits, i called them to find out if they cover OS aswell, and they said 80% with a max of $1500. Does this sound right, or should i get additional insurance tro cover OS.

The OS benefits really aren't meant to cover orthognathic surgery. They are meant to cover things like extractions. $1500 will not come anywhere close to the bill for any kind of jaw surgery.

Orthognathic surgery is usually covered (if at all) by medical insurance.

You'll just have to check your policy. Many med policies explicitly exclude any coverage for orthognathic surgery.

I have delta dental, but like previously stated it doesn't cover OS. That would be under your medical insurance plan so you would have to check with it.

I have Delta Dental and they covered $1,500 for the braces. Cigna covered my BSSO surgery with only a co-pay due. I had to appeal for the surgery, but it was approved in a week.

I hope all goes well.
