I think it would be a good idea personally, my dentist and ortho and dental surgeon seem to think so as well. I'm going for a cleaning may 20th. I think it is a good idea. Then you know your teeth are nice and sparkling clean and you have hardly any plaque on them:). squeaky clean teeth =less chance of an infection. It will be hard for me to brush my teeth very good after my jaw surgery since my jaws will be wired shut for 6 weeks so we figured a good cleaning sounds like a good idea. My plan is once i'm healed up more I'll go in for another good cleaning cause I'll be itching for a good cleaning by then. I'm not looking forward to the gross teeth feeling. So ya definetly go for the cleaning. I don't think itd hurt at all :D

Oh, definitely go for a teeth cleaning before the surgery. I have been completely wired shut for the past 2 weeks, and my mouth feels so nasty. I can feel the layers of plaque build-up on the inside of every tooth, but there's nothing I can do about it.
Btw, mouthwash is safe to use post-op. Its a good way to make your mouth feel a little clean for a while.

Definitely a good idea! I had to book a cleaning 3-4 weeks before surgery as requested by my OS :)

oh okay! I just wanted to make sure that a cleaning wont harm anything for the surgery....like if my gums get nicked it wont get infected or anything
