Only lefort.. braces still?

I feel a little foolish asking this but does anyone know if braces are required if a person is only having there upper jaw moved upward?

I guess it depends on how the teeth would look after the jaw was moved forward.

You always need braces before a surgery, I believe. They are their to stablise your teeth afterwards as well as get them in the optimum position beforehand (even if your teeth are relatively straight to start with)

The incisors have to be decompensated, the teeth need to be leveled and the dental midlines need to be brought in sync with each other and the facial midline(if possible. otherwise the facial midline is corrected during surgery). The result of pre-surgical orthodontics will dictate how far the maxilla can be mobilized.
