Another shifing bite question...

#1 Post by HkyGrl s2k »

Is it normal for it to shift at all?

I have been unwired since last Friday, and everything has gone relatively ok since then. I have been wearing my rubber band except when eating and letting my face have a break for a little bit after eating. The teeth get brushed and they go back in.

Last night after I brushed the teeth and am re-installing my rubber bands, I pushed a bit on the right side of my jaw while opening my mouth and got some lovely ooze down where an incision was made. Lightly rubbed the outside of my jaw and got more. Guess its getting infected :(

I started using the leftovers of the prescription mouth wash they gave me again, and started taking some of the antibiotics I have again since they gave me two different forms of it, since no one is at the docs again til Monday :?

But yeah I was just looking at my bite and it had shifted back a mm or two and I was just concerned if a little bit of shifting is normal or not.

oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! For the infection (since you have to wait till Monday) try using a hydrogen peroxide/salt/water rinse @ least 3 times a day. It really cleans everything out! As for movement, it depends on what your doctor wanted. I know that post-op they wanted the bands to pull me down in the front about .5mm (soooo small of a space...) and that was it...any other changes and am to notify them right away!! Good luck, and I hope you feel better!

Been rinsing with salt water, and also used the home remedy for abcessed teeth I knew about. Put a dry tea bag in the area for a couple hours and it will draw out the infection. Seemed to have helped this morning cause I didnt get as much stuff out of the area as the last couple days.

The infection had seemed to have cleared up, there was no oozing or anything so I was excited.

But then between last night and this morning the right side of my jaw & face swelled up, and the area that swelled became hard. :( Called the doc, he called in another prescription for antibiotics that I went and picked up and am taking again. He couldn't see me until tomorrow morning, so I'll go in then and hope the news isn't too bad.

I'm really worried about it now, especially cause its sore and the area is hard. I don't know what to think about it now. But I hope it's nothing more than an infection.

Here's to some good news tomorrow.

I pray you have some good news tomorrow and feel better. Thanks for the info about the tea bag. I'm going to try it for my abscessed tooth.
